Privacy Policy

Encore ("the app", "we", "us") is a teleprompter and video recording app. We built it so that your scripts and videos stay on your device. This policy explains what little data is processed, why, and the choices you have.
1. Data that stays on your device
Your scripts, recorded videos, practice statistics and settings are stored locally on your device only. We do not upload them to our servers and we cannot see them. Deleting the app removes them. Videos you choose to save to your photo library or share are handled by your operating system and the apps you share to.
2. Camera, microphone and speech recognition
- Camera & microphone are used only while you record a take or use Voice Scroll.
- Voice Scroll uses your device's built-in speech recognition service (Apple Speech on iOS, Google speech services on Android). Depending on your device and settings, audio may be processed on-device or sent to Apple or Google to convert it to text, under their privacy policies. We receive only the recognized words in real time to move your script and we do not store them.
3. AI features (optional)
When you use AI Draft or AI Assist, the text you provide (topic, audience, tone, or the script you ask to rewrite) and your app language are sent through our server proxy (hosted on Cloudflare) to OpenAI to generate the result. We do not store this text. OpenAI processes API data under its API data usage policies and does not use API data to train its models by default; it may retain it for a limited period for abuse monitoring. Do not include sensitive personal information in AI requests.
4. Purchases
Payments are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We never receive your card details. We use RevenueCat to validate purchases and manage subscription status; it receives an anonymous app user identifier and purchase/receipt information.
5. Anonymous usage analytics
To understand which features help people and where they get stuck (for example, how many people finish onboarding), the app sends anonymous usage events to PostHog (EU servers). Events contain a random installation identifier, the event name (e.g. "prompter_opened"), app version, platform, language and simple counters such as session length. They never contain your scripts, recordings, name, email address, contacts or precise location. We do not use advertising identifiers and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

6. What we don't do
- We do not sell or rent personal data.
- We do not show third-party ads.
- We do not require an account, email or phone number.
7. Retention
On-device data is kept until you delete it or the app. Anonymous analytics events are kept for up to 24 months and then deleted or aggregated. AI requests are not stored by us.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live (e.g. GDPR in the EU/UK, KVKK in Türkiye, CCPA in California) you may have the right to access, correct, delete or object to processing of your data. Because we don't collect identifying information, most data can be removed simply by deleting the app. To request deletion of anonymous analytics data, contact us and include the identifier shown in the app if requested.
9. Children
Encore is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country) and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be announced in the app or on this page, with a new effective date.
